Quercus alba (White Oak)
White Oak is one of the most majestic native trees in North America. Growing to heights of 60-80 feet, White Oak is pyramidal when young maturing into a rounded, spreading specimen. Although slow growing, old White Oaks have been known to spread over 100 feet wide and have trunks over 10 feet in diameter. You’ll never forget the first time you see a mammoth ancient White Oak in person.
When tiny leaves start to emerge in spring, they contain a pinkish hue that lights up the tree. Leaves turn to a gorgeous rich red to reddish purple in the fall. Bark is an attractive light gray/white color.
Very adaptable once established. Our plants are trained to have a fibrous root system to make the transplanting process easier. Will survive in many different growing environments but does best in moist, well-drained soil in full sun.
