Acer saccharum (Sugar Maple)
Habit
Sugar Maple is an overstory tree growing to about 60-80 feet tall. Becomes a large, dense tree with a full crown. Great for single plantings in yard or park settings.
Color
Wow! Sugar Maple is possibly the best native tree for fall color. Brilliant shades of orange, yellow, and red in the fall. A superior specimen in autumn. In summer the dense, dark green leaves provide ample shade.
Culture
Give Sugar Maple a well-drained moist soil and it will thrive. Full sun or part shade. Easily transplanted when healthy. Once your Sugar Maple is mature, you can tap the trunk for some tasty maple syrup!
