Quercus phellos (Willow Oak)
Habit
Willow Oak is a handsome specimen tree for landscaping, city planting, parks, restoration, and just about any project. It grows 50-75 feet tall with outstanding form. Widely planted in the south-and for good reason! A massive Willow Oak is a beautiful sight.
Color
Light green leaves give way to yellow/red colors in autumn. Fine texture of leaves and overall shape produces a great specimen tree.
Culture
Willow Oak is one of the easier oaks to transplant (much like Pin Oak) due to its fibrous root system. It is one of the hardiest narrow leafed oaks and is native to moist sites, though it will tolerate drier conditions. Give Willow Oak full sun.
