Chionanthus virginicus (White Fringetree)
Habit
White Fringetree is a native understory small tree/large shrub growing about 12-20 feet in height. A wonderful plant for naturalizing or landscaping use. By far one of our more popular plants.
Color
One of those most spectacular native flowering shrubs. Plants even just a few years old will flower. Mature specimens will be absolutely covered in beautiful white fringe-like blooms during May and June. Single plantings or mass groupings can be stunning.
Culture
Prefers moist well drained soil but is very adaptable and fairly easy to transplant. Full sun to part shade. Very cold hardy to -30 degrees.
