Callicarpa dichotoma ‘Early Amethyst’ (Beautyberry)
Habit: Small rounded shrub that grows about 4-6 feet tall with similar spread. Arching, graceful branches that droop to touch the ground.
Color: One of the best shrubs for color- bright purple clusters of fruit appearing in early fall. Plant Beautyberry in groups for best effect. This specific cultivar has fruits that appear earlier in the growing season than other varieties.
Culture: Prefers moist well drained soil but very adaptable and easy to transplant. Treat as a herbaceous perennial. Fruits on new growth so it is common practice to cut Beautyberry to the ground each year.
